Sunshine Dog Rescue became a 501(c)(3) non-profit in May 2015. Long before, our passion for dogs encouraged us to help the dogs in our county shelter, so we did.
Our mission is rescuing medium to large breed dogs & puppies from high kill shelters & unsafe conditions. We give each animal proper vet care, vaccinations, rehabilitation, microchip & basic training to secure their future in a furever home.

If you can't volunteer, educate.
If you can't educate, love.

HALO is an acronym that stands for Helping Animals Live On. It is a succinct, four-word definition of what we are here for. It is the reason each and every employee and volunteer puts two feet on the ground. It is a passion that goes beyond just loving dogs and cats. It is a driving force in our lives; to make this community, this world, a safe place for homeless pets.
Located in sunny Phoenix, Arizona, HALO Animal Rescue is a safety net for thousands of homeless dogs and cats each year. We are a no-kill facility, which means we never euthanize an animal because we have run out of room, but it also means we are limited in the animals we can take in at any given time. These animals are lovingly cared for while they are prepared for adoption, and then they are adopted into loving homes.
Valley of the Sun Dog Rescue is a NO KILL, all breeds rescue and adoption service and has been a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization since the year 2000. We specialize in American Pitbulls and American Staffordshire Terriers, but we accept all breeds into our rescue.
We are headquartered and operated from our home. We are a family run organization with the help of foster care providers and volunteers. With this great working staff we rescue all breeds of dogs that are ill, injured, maimed, abandoned or simply unwanted. Our dogs are obtained from the various animal shelters in the area, as well as those animals given up by private citizens.
Healing Through Artistic Expression
Free Arts uses the healing powers of the arts to help abused and homeless children build resiliency and learn to trust and heal. All of the children in Free Arts programs have experienced combinations of family trauma, homelessness, and violence. To begin to heal, they need services including mentoring, a caring community, and an opportunity to learn new skills and express themselves.
Art Heals – The creative arts transform and inspire lives.
Every Child Matters – All children have the right to be cared for and respected.
Mentoring Works – Mentoring builds resilience by helping children identify their strengths and increase their confidence.
